The aim of Biotech4Food is to support the creation of new circular agri-food value chains, as well as sustainable inter-regional industrial investments for SMEs at the crossroads between biotechnologies and the agri-food industry.
Biotech4food will enable companies to invest in innovation, with the aim of improving food production processes by making them more sustainable, developing new biobased ingredients for better nutrition, moving towards a circular agri-food industry, and making intelligent use of secondary flows, by-products and waste.
The project is led by a consortium comprising seven agri-food innovation clusters, three technology transfer offices, one local authority and 14 SMEs. It is supported by ten regional authorities (responsible for their respective S3) and represents 20 NUTS2 regions of the EU.
