Given the galloping progression of obesity, the Capple project is aimed specifically at acquiring the necessary elements so as to obtain a health claim relating to weight control. The objective of Capple is to study systematically the beneficial health effects of synergistic lactate (apple extract formulations) and to market these products for use as a food supplement or in a food matrix. At the same time, it is seeking to obtain authorization from the European Commission for a health claim for this new ingredient.
